J FAMILY FRIENDLY IDEA

J Expect your children to be full participants in the worship service - Our Sunday morning worship service is not something geared only for adults. Rather, it is a time for the whole church (young and old alike) to come together to worship the Lord. Babies and toddlers learn to worship the Lord by sitting quietly. Younger children worship by sitting still, listening, and learning the songs and hymns. As children get older, they begin to understand God’s word, and benefit from the teaching.

FROM OUR PARISH NURSE

Plan to attend the program “Healthy Body, Healthy Mind, Healthy Spirit”, Monday, September 29th at 7:00 PM in the Adult Education Room.  Ginny Hingst is the presenter.  On the table near the Welcome Center is a handout entitled “A Weigh to Measure Your Health”.  Pick up a copy.

FALL WORK AROUND THE CHURCH DAY

Everyone is invited for the fall work around the church and school day this Saturday, October 4th , 9:00AM-1:00PM.   Work will be done to beautify the landscape and complete a few indoor tasks as well.  Pizza will be provided for lunch.  This might be a fun family activity.  Contact Kristin Lossing or a Board of Property member for more details.

WATCH #5

We Are The CHurch is a spiritual renewal weekend designed to further your relationship with God and other Christians. It is a rare opportunity to escape from the temptations and traps of the world. WATCH #5 will take place October 10-12 at Sangralea Valley. Register by filling out a lunar blue form and place it in the lunar blue box marked WATCH at the Welcome Center.  Deadline for registration: Sunday, October 5.

A common question asked about WATCH: Do I need to register before the WATCH weekend? Registration helps us understand who is planning to come, identify special needs and helps us plan for food and supplies. We ask that you sign up as individuals. Couples wishing to go together may but should understand that this is not a marriage retreat. Women and men will be sleeping separately and couples will be put in different small groups. Each individual should fill out his or her own form. You will receive a confirmation letter. If you have registered and not received a confirmation, please contact Pastor Akers at church (453-0969) or Gene Miller (453-3636).

Next week's question: What should I wear and what do I bring?

STEWARDS LIVING A GOD-PLEASING LIFE

This year's stewardship theme is STEWARDS LIVING A GOD-PLEASING LIFE.  We have been "created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" (Ephesians 2:10).  Together we'll learn how God not only prepares the work we are to do, but prepares and equips us, His stewards, to do that work.

Be sure to join your brothers and sisters in Christ as we study God's Word to find how we can be STEWARDS LIVING A GOD-PLEASING LIFE.  Both our worship and Bible study will focus on the following themes:

10-12-08       FAITH IS THE FOUNDATION

10-19-08       DISCIPLESHIP IS THE PATH

10-26-08       GENEROSITY IS THE HALLMARK

It is our prayer that each of us will be overwhelmed again and again at the grace of God which has created us, saved us, and daily offers us forgiveness and strength to be stewards who please Him.

Commitment Sunday is  October 26, 2008, which will be a day of joyful response to that grace of God.   Please make every effort to attend both worship services and Bible studies during this program and prayerfully consider your privileges and responsibilities as God's stewards.
