STEPPING STONES
Attention
parents of first graders! In
keeping with the baptismal promise to “place in your child’s hands the Holy
Scriptures,” Our Redeemer will be passing out a first Bible to first graders on
the weekend of September 14th. The catch is that we want the Bibles to be
used, used by Mom and Dad at a “Using
the Bible” workshop. All
parents who wish to receive a Bible for their first grader are encouraged to
attend the “Using the Bible” workshop where parents will be taking a walk
through their child’s Bible and preparing it for them. A session will be held in Mission Hall on Sunday, September 7th,
2:00-3:30 PM. Free babysitting is provided. Contact Pastor
Akers if you need a babysitter.

theater prior to the play. The buffet
dinner costs $16.19, which includes
beverage, tax and gratuity. Please
indicate on the sign-up sheet if you want dinner. Show

to Paul Bastaich.

LUTHERAN SCHOOL NEWS FROM PRINCIPAL RUTH LAVRENZ
SECURING
EACH CHILD’S FUTURE…FOR ETERNITY
“For I know
the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to
harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” Jer. 29:11
The Lord is richly blessing our school. I see it evidenced in the many
volunteers who come into the school each day.
I see it in the classrooms where the teachers work hard with the
children each day. I see it every time I
look at the new classrooms and the work that continues to occur there. I see it
on the faces of the students as they join together at opening and in chapel
each week. What a joy it is to see how
God continues to work His plan for each of us!

FROM
OUR PARISH NURSE
Our bodies are a
temple, a tool to serve God and others.
The choices we make with our bodies, mind and lifestyle may positively
or negatively affect our ability to serve Him.
It is a proven fact that when we make appropriate lifestyle choices /
changes, the quality of our life, our health and our length of life are
extended. During the next two months,
our Parish Nursing will provide you with handouts and programs to help you make
that happen. How do you rate your
wellness? Stop by the table near the
Welcome Center today.

WATCH #5
We Are The CHurch is a
spiritual renewal weekend designed to further your relationship with God and
other Christians. It is a rare opportunity to escape from the temptations and
traps of the world. WATCH #5 will take place October 10-12 at Sangralea Valley.
Register by filling out a lunar blue form and place it in the lunar blue box
marked WATCH at the Welcome Center. A
common comment when asked about attending WATCH: “I can’t imagine giving up that amount of time.” Humanly-speaking, spending Friday
night to Sunday afternoon at a retreat makes no sense. That is a lot of time. That’s why so many
people either don’t attend such things as WATCH or attend reluctantly. However,
if you were to do an exit poll of people completing WATCH or something like
WATCH, you would find that most people were pleasantly surprised. Why? Check
out Isaiah 55:8-11 and ask yourself – “could God have something in store for me
at WATCH?” Next week's question: Are you suggesting my relationship with
the Lord needs “furthering?”
REFORMATION SERVICE CHILI / HOT DOG SUPPER - GOOD
SHEPHERD
Good
Shepherd Lutheran Church invites Our Redeemer members to the annual Reformation
Service at their facility. The service
is Sunday, October 26th
with a chili/hot dog supper prior to worship.
The meal will begin at 5:30 PM
and the service at 6:30 PM. All congregation members need to bring is an
appetite for food, song, fellowship and worship.
