THE 8TH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

July 17 & July 18, 2010

Welcome!  St. Paul wrote that in Christ “all things hold together” (Colossians 1:17, NRSV). As we worship, let us remember that only Christ can hold a person, a church or a nation together. If you are a guest, thank you for visiting. Please introduce yourself to Pastor Gremel and complete the information in the Rite of Fellowship pad located on the pew. Large print services and assistive listening devices are available from the ushers or at the Welcome Center.  A Sitting Room [in the east wing] and a Nursery [in the west wing] are available for infants through age three during each worship service. If little ones become restless during the service and are disturbing other worshipers, please take them out of the service until they have settled down. Thank you!  “The Lutheran Hour” can be heard every Sunday at 8:00 AM on WIOU and sponsored by Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer.

High school graduates, college students, and young adults, we have a Bible study geared especially for you.  As God’s written Word, the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments are the source of His revelation to man.  Join us in the Adult Education Room during the Sunday School hour as we learn about the production, collection, transmission, and preservation of these marvelous works in How We Got The Bible, featuring Dr. Paul L. WATCH #7

We Are The CHurch is a spiritual renewal weekend designed to further your relationship with God and other Christians. It is a rare opportunity to escape from the temptations and traps of the world. WATCH #7 will take place September 24-26 at Sangralea Valley. Register by filling out a lift off lemon form and place it in the box marked WATCH at the Welcome Center.

WATCH COMMONLY ASKED QUESTION

A commonly asked question about WATCH: (This one will REALLY hurt...) What about my kids’ games I will have to miss that weekend? There is nothing more heart-warming to us parents than to see our offspring compete on the playing field. Our child may be the hero of the game or he/she may be the one who made the pass that led to the pass that led to a goal. It doesn’t matter what their contributions are – we burst with pride.  To be sure, our children have special contests that no sane parent would miss – the league championship, Senior Night…BUT let us raise this question – is it necessary or even God-pleasing to be in attendance at every single contest your child participates in? This is a question for you to discuss with your Lord. There will never be any judgment on our part.  And don’t forget the invention of the video-camera, which can capture the special moments you might miss.  Next week's question: What happens during all that time? What if I get bored?

STEWARDSHIP MINUTE

St. Paul knew full well that in Christ he had been redeemed from all his past sins and failures and equipped by the power of the Holy Spirit to live his life as a good steward of the mysteries and blessings of the Gospel.  By God’s grace we are also called to freely and joyfully live our lives and use all of God’s blessings to honor Him and make life sweeter for others. - Colossians 1:21-29

90TH BIRTHDAY OPEN HOUSE
