HIGH SCHOOL BIBLE CLASS

The high school Sunday School class will begin a 13-week course today titled "Revolution." Today's lesson is titled "Guilt" and includes a DVD presentation. Join us at 9:30 AM in the Youth Room, up the stairs across from the church kitchen. The class is led by Ginny Hingst and Robin Truesdell.

TODAY IN SUNDAY SCHOOL

This morning in Sunday School the theme of our lesson is “What Signals Do You Give” based on 1 Thessalonians 5:11. They will discuss developing honor in the family.

SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS

Join us each Sunday morning for the following:

U FELLOWSHIP - from 9:20–9:40 AM, in the school entrance for donuts, drinks and fellowship before attending a Sunday School class of your choice.

U KIDS HONOR CLUB - Kids ages 3 through 6^th grade are invited to join the “Kids Honor Club” this summer. Kids will love these fun-filled sessions on the Biblical character quality of honor. They will learn what honor is through a fishing expedition, how to deal with selfishness through a construction site, how to address their own anger and then go one step further by becoming peacemakers.

U 7^TH & 8^TH GRADERS - 7^th & 8^th graders serve as Club leaders and help the younger children. Who knows, you might just learn a bit about honor as well… so join the club and help us have some fun!

J FAMILY FRIENDLY IDEA

J Parents, encourage your children to shake hands and get to know the pastors after the worship service. Perhaps they would like to draw and picture or write a note to thank this special servant of God.

The Grounds for high school youth meets tonight in the Youth Room 6:30-8:30 PM. Join us for a brief study and fellowship.

Following this weekend’s worship services you will receive an empty grocery sack for Yes We Can! Please fill it up with non-perishable food items and return it to the church narthex to benefit the Kokomo Rescue Mission. Sign up at the Welcome Center to assist with the Yes We Can! scavenger hunt.

CARLOAD CONFERENCE

Indiana District’s Carload Conference will be held on Saturday, September 6^th, at Lutheran High School in Indy from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Topics of sectionals include: Altar, Caring, Children’s Ministry, Education, Elders, Family, Outreach, Secretaries, Stewardship, Treasurers, Youth/Young Adults, and Web. The cost is $15 per person or $50 for the entire congregation. See brochures at the Welcome Center or talk to Pastor Akers.

DAY OF SILENT PRAYER

If you have a need for prayer, or a prayer request, please fill out a blue prayer request card from the pew. You can either give it to an usher after the service, or place it in the "Day of Silent Prayer" Box at the Welcome Center. Join us this Wednesday, August 27^th, any time between Noon and 8 PM to pray for these requests. "And we can be confident that He will listen to us whenever we ask Him for anything in line with His will. And if we know He is listening when we make our requests, we can be sure that He will give us what we ask for. " (1John 5:14-15)

MEXICO MISSION TRIP PLANNED!

There is a mission trip planned for December 27, 2008 to January 4, 2009. We will be returning to Foundation For His Ministry in Baja California, Mexico. If you are interested in being part of this mission team, please contact Laura Durr.

Our Christian love, prayers and sympathy go to Tom & Lynn Folkers at the death of their brother-in-law, Bob Lloyd who passed away on Tuesday evening.

WATCH #5

We Are The CHurch is a spiritual renewal weekend designed to further your relationship with God and other Christians. It is a rare opportunity to escape from the temptations and traps of the world. WATCH #5 will take place October 10-12 at Sangralea Valley. Register by filling out a lunar blue form and place it in the lunar blue box marked WATCH at the Welcome Center.

WATCH Commonly Asked Question

A commonly asked question about WATCH: More about “touchy-feely”. (More commentary on the previous week's question - How much “touchy-feely” stuff is involved?) We have all seen the broadcasts of church services on TV in which the congregation is more, shall say, demonstrative of their faith. The Lutheran Church, as a rule, is pretty conservative in this area. That is not to say that one method of worship

is better or worse than another; they are just different. Often times on a renewal weekend like WATCH, the participants experience the love and grace of God in a new way – in a way they have never known before. With such experience there is bound to be some “emotions.” These expressions are seen by others as meaningful and appropriate – never as objectionable or overbearing. Next week's comment: “I AM WAY TOO BUSY!”
